Agape4All places a strong emphasis on preparing young people—especially care leavers aged 16 to 21—for adulthood by equipping them with essential independent living skills. The aim is to help each individual transition successfully into self-sufficient, confident, and responsible adult life.
1. Life Skills Development
Agape4All provides hands-on support and education in key areas needed for independent living:
Budgeting: Young people are taught how to manage their income, handle bills, save money, and avoid debt.
Cooking & Nutrition: They learn how to prepare healthy meals, plan shopping lists, and safely store food, key for health and self-care.
Job Hunting & Employability: Support includes writing CVs, preparing for interviews, searching for jobs or apprenticeships, and understanding workplace expectations.
Time Management: Young people are guided in planning daily routines, attending appointments, and managing responsibilities effectively.
Tenancy Skills: They are educated on how to manage a tenancy, maintain their accommodation, understand housing rights, and communicate with landlords.
2. Tailored Support Plans
Every young person receives an individualised support plan tailored to their needs:
Emotional needs (e.g., dealing with anxiety, low self-esteem, or trauma)
Educational goals (e.g., continuing school, training, or accessing further education)
Social development (e.g., building positive relationships, community engagement)
These plans are co-created with the young person to ensure their voice and preferences are central.
3. Aftercare and Long-Term Support
Agape4All recognizes that support shouldn't end once a young person moves into independent living. Their aftercare support includes:
Mentoring: Ongoing one-to-one guidance from trained staff to build confidence and decision-making skills.
Career Planning: Helping young people set career goals and access relevant training, work experience, or apprenticeships.
Healthcare Access: Continued support with mental and physical health needs, including referrals and emotional well-being support.
