The accommodation generally services young people. Every young person has his or her own bedroom. There is a general bathroom for all the service users, however, we usually keep the master’s bedroom (ensuite) for the girls. Having their own bathroom and toilet within their own room ensure the privacy of the girl(s) is maintained and respected. All bedrooms are fully furnished with beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet, and reading table and chair. There are shared communal areas for cooking, a living area, and a garden. The rooms are designed to suit the individual young people’s favourite theme.
The house has CCTV in all communal areas, and this is monitored both on and off-site. This is to ensure a safe environment for both young people and staff members.
The young people are allowed to have contact and spend time with their family and friends in the house according to their care plan. This is the normal practice, unless it is considered unsafe to do so for the protection of young people within the home.
We are committed to ensuring that the home provides the safest environment for young people who live there. In the preparation and adaptations of the home, the planning authority, building control, fire service and the environmental health are contacted to assist in the correct regulations being followed.
Growth varies for different young people. For some it could be doing away with a bad habit, ability to control one’s emotions, anger management, or preparing new delicacies. While for others, it could be attending school regularly. Irrespective of what it is we recognise everyone’s progress and celebrate their big wins.
